Sometimes it takes a tragedy to realize that you’ve neglected one of the best pizza restaurants in Wisconsin. Pizza Man burned down Monday night/Tuesday morning (01/19/10). I was drinking at the bar next door, Cush, mere hours before the fire started and thinking about how I haven’t been to Pizza Man in nearly 5 years. When I woke up to the news that it had burned I was devastated.
Pizza Man’s thin crust was so delicious that it brought a clientele to the east side that would normally hide their children in Brookfield until they were 18. It was typical to see a family strolling out of Pizza Man late on a Friday night (a neighborhood dedicated to binge drinking in it’s highest form). Not only was the pizza fantastic but the interior was amazing. Set like an old brick cellar with a huge wooden bar when you walk in, Pizza Man was a sight to be seen. It also had a outdoor seating area covered by trees and an ambiance that brought back memories of New York City.
I haven’t eaten there in a while and therefore cannot offer a fresh review but I will give you tales of it’s greatness through fond memories some of my friends have as well as my own.

The Good: Thin crust made to perfection. So crispy it would make your dick hard. Strip Club Dave asked me, “Have you ever had cream cheese on a pizza?”
“No, I don’t really like cream cheese,” I responded.
“Well either did I until I had it there. It’s fucking unbelievably good.”
Not only could you get cream cheese on your pizza, Pizza Man’s impressive topping list included pulled BBQ pork, shrimp, crab, and conch along with the usuals for you non adventurous types. The toppings were always as fresh as could be and not one man, woman, or child left Pizza Man in a bad mood.
Pizza Man was not only a pizza lover’s paradise but a wine lover’s dream, as well. They were serious about their wines as documented by their website (which says you can still order online…). They also offered non pizza related dinner and appetizers. I remember the steak sandwich being phenomenal.

The Bad: As previously stated Pizza Man burned down. Authorities are calling the building “a total loss.” One of my friends said 1/19 is Milwaukee’s 9/11. I couldn’t agree more. I went there late last night to view it with my own eyes and almost broke down. Never forget.

Try: Ordering a pizza on their website and seeing if it gets delivered. I’ll put 10 on it that it doesn’t arrive.
But seriously, Strip Club highly recommends the cream cheese topping while I’ll pull for the BBQ pulled pork. If somehow Pizza Man comes back to life I suggest you go there.

At least until they rebuild it. They have the technology.
